ICTswitzerland works to secure an adequate supply of young, qualified ICT specialists and ensure that ICT professions are perceived as desirable and forward-looking by the general public.
Its Education Commission is responsible for education, and initial and continuing vocational training in ICT at every level of the education ladder. This therefore includes not only vocational training for ICT specialists but also ICT education at state-run schools. The commission represents ICTswitzerland’s affiliated trade associations and corporate members with regard to all education needs, comments on education issues, coordinates with all education-related committees and organisations and advises the ICTswitzerland board.
ICT Vocational Training Switzerland was founded in the spring of 2010 by the umbrella organisation ICTswitzerland and the country’s cantonal and regional labour organisations (OdA). The association has always set itself the task of taking an active role in tackling the lack of ICT specialists in Switzerland. In so doing, it is creating the conditions that can ensure a sufficient supply of adequately qualified young ICT professionals to meet the needs of businesses and the public sector at an international standard.
